Not sure if this one is in the spreadsheet. Currently on the Bay: a Model 120 tenor, serial 737
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leblanc-Rat...del-120-Tenor-Saxophone-/170910831214?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27cb14526e
yep i got it and added the note "a couple of screws missing in the photos? any thing else? other wise looks like it is in pretty good shape, some lacquer loss around the low D# tone hole"

to which I will add here that it sold for $1125.00 on Sept 23rd 2012

Thanks, Freemont Sax for this useful information. I bought a second Vito Alto on E Bay earlier this year.
I also bought a nice LED leak light recently. I checked out some of my horns and brought the 2 Alto Vitos and my Bass Clarinet. in for adjustment. I played the E Bay alto tonight, yikes what a great horn!

I went to give you the info on it for your chart and I find that it is on there. However, some add'l info for serial #3082A: not ribbed, 1 piece left side bell guard, not sure if this is on the chart but "made in France" is engraved below the serial number.

I saw alto s/n 1798A listed in the resgistry spreadhseet.

This was the "student" model (?) alto sax I recently purchased via eBay. When I picked it up from my tech, I compared it to a Kenosha made intermediate Vito they had lying around. Their intermediate models (e.g. model 37) seemed to have a slightly heavier body tube but the keywork and guards on these saxes are very similar. The original lacquer on their sax was more of a honey color. Very sweet.

The tech estimated my instrument was relaquered and repadded some time ago (their estimate 1980s). I like the deeper color of the old lacquer over the lighter color of my relacquered horn, although it was a nice job.

I uploaded a few pics in an album...if anyone's interested. Just starting to get a little playing time on it now that I have it back from my tech. Nice blowing little horn, I'm liking it!

When I click those links I get this:

How about the difference in sound or playability?

Yes, very nice looking horn. I see 'SR 15' listed as the serial number in the text. This is by far the earliest one of these I've seen, which probably explains why it's the semi version, minus the full keywork on some of the later horns. From what I've seen, there were several versions of the keywork and especially on the earlier ones, less than full implementation setups...

Hi all,

I noticed the Vito Alto #6625A on the spreadsheet has been listed and sold on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vito-Alto-S...rue&si=GUBrkjVBj+CJLA7EbCfvnGV3Qvg=&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Judging from the pictures, and all the background info I scoured on this forum, I'd say it looks like a Model 37? Am I right? My other question: why is "Vito" considered a brand alongside "Leblanc" and "Beaugnier"? I can understand the need to differentiate between the latter two, but it seems to me that Vito is a model name, not a company name. If both Leblanc and Beaugnier, respectively, manufacture their own version of the Vito, wouldn't it be more confusing to just categorize them under "Vito"? Perhaps we should introduce a primary category for the manufacturer and a subcategory for the make/model, instead of having everything under the umbrella term "Brand."

Thoughts?

From webster a class of goods identified by name as the product of a single firm or manufacturer.

So Vito, Leblanc, Beaugnier and Noblet were all brands. Of these Vito was from a US corporation closely associated with Leblanc. Where Noblet and Beaugnier were owned by Leblanc as well obviously Leblanc the Leblanc brand.

For Vito, The Beaugnier factory made both whole saxophones and parts of saxophones that were assembled by Vito. Vito also had Japanese and Taiwanese companies build saxophones.

Just to keep things confusing Vito also distributed the Leblanc, Beaugnier and Noblet brand of instruments in the US.

Maybe this has been addressed before, but who actually made the Leblanc saxes?
Did Leblanc have their own factories or were all the "acquired" ateliers making the instruments?
Over the years I have seen a lot of similarities between the french saxmakers.
Thanks,
Jeroen

# 1313 just went out the door on ebay:

Nice looking shape; $1285...also, fairly late in the run(max serial I've yet come across is in the 15xx range).

Seller started it at $600, where it languished until the snipers all showed up at the last minute...too good of a price at $600...$1285 seems about right to me for a this nice of condition.

Interesting that as good as these horns are, they top out in the $1000-1500 range, which is pretty cheap these days for a quality instrument that's billed as the 'most in tune sax made'.
