Thanks for the replies all.

I bought it when I was in high school, 1977. Don't remember from who - my parents found it for me and we paid $350. I believe the seller was the original owner. Unfortunately, there was no paper work with it.

Warp x, my wife keeps telling me the same thing...I played a lot in high school and college, and there are some local groups that might be fun to get together with, but I just haven't had the time. Been living vicariously through my kids in marching band for the last few years... :)

When I was in college, this would have been the mid to late 1960s, the Leblanc Co. gave or loaned the School of Music a whole suite of new Leblanc instruments, clarinets, saxes, more woodwinds, even brass, whether for testing or whatever. Anyway, I seem to recall among the saxes were a couple of low A altos, with the usual quirky Leblanc system keys, and bells almost as tall as the horn. I've never seen a low-A Leblanc alto sax since and wonder if such a thing really existed.

ok I was all ready to do a release of the spread sheet and then made the mistake of checking this thread.... thanks mperk..... 1195 is now in this release..... pull it down use it how ever you like. make suggestions, add info... this is meant to be a community effort.... so Beaugnier.xls

FremontSax, what about using google docs? Anybody with a google account can access it from any type of computer (or smartphone) and edits are tracked by username. I can't edit your document because the computer I use doesn't have Office.

abadcliche..... that's a very good idea. (I use open office on a linux box) But.... the idea of allowing the community to edit and add data directly.... very nice.

Hello, saintsday!

I've been trying to confirm the actual existence of the Couesnon low A to G alto for several years now. Have you actually seen this horn? Anyone?
Not in person, but I've seen pictures of 3 of them. Two went through eBay about a year ago.

Fremontsax, google has made it super easy. Just upload the xls and it will convert it (with minimal errors nowadays) instantly. That is actually how I have been reading it up until now.

abadcliche has gotten me to run an experiment of moving the spread sheet to google documents where others can edit it..... so its location there is Beaugnier If you would like to become an editor send me a pm with your email address (I know gmail.com accounts work other are ?)

Good idea! The Noblet curvy soprano that was offered here appears a Model 86... I have only learned of #s 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40 or 41(Johnny Hodges)? & now, model 86 Leblanc numbered models, of the Beaugnier related horns.

What's the serial on the above alto? Relac, with serial buffed way too much. Looks like 148-ish to me, but really hard to tell. Keywork leads me to believe this is an early one in the run(< #300). If 148 or thereabouts, this may be the earliest of these I recall, altho I'd have to recheck all of my various posts, photos and misc. before being definitive on that call.

Kinda of a crappy relac/overhaul, but right now(!) it's goin' cheap, so bid'R'up, folks :)

I just noticed Henry D's sad thread about his Model 100 SN 1329 being stolen. So I am doing an addition publication of the spreadsheet with his sax info added, highlighted in RED and including a note about it being stolen along with a link to the SOW thread that he started. The spread sheet is available both through google docs as well as from my web server.
