The RPC is a very different blank. It has a big baffle so it is brighter but it doesnt make it a berg.
Im not knocking it...its just a different animal.
.
I wouldn't argue with that; I'm pretty sure it's a different animal, and I highly doubt that Ron ever set out to make a Berg copy! However, the RPC doesn't necessarily have a big baffle. I have three of them, and they all have different size baffles and play differently, just as JackLi points out. The one (and maybe only) thing it does have in common with Bergs is the option of different size baffles, along with a tendency to use larger tips to balance out those baffles and keep a full sound.
If you are after a larger tip mpc, I think that's where Ron Cuehlo really shines with his designs for the RPC. Most people that play Bergs seem to favor a large tip also, so that may be where they 'intersect.' But I'm no expert on design; I just play them.
People are only copying mouthpieces that are going for big bucks. The only Bergs that sell for anything substantial are the old slant rubber ones and the brass ones. Maybe one day?
