So I did a cursory search on the forums and didn't see much on this topic. Now that the 62iii's have been out in the USA market for a few months what have been your impressions of the iii's vs ii's?

I'm actually shopping for a pro-level horn (currently playing a 1st generation Walstein tenor, which is now getting all kinds of mechanical problems.. but i LOVE the tone), and am considering a Yamaha 62. I tried a ii in the local store yesterday and was impressed with the ergonomics, intonation, and playability; but am unsure about the tone, which didn't seem as rich and deep as my Walstein. But perhaps it's just because I'm used to how to get the tone I want from the Walstein. Perhaps yamaha tone will develop with more playing??
Still looking for a iii to try.

So I'll answer my own question. I tried both the 62ii and 62iii today at the store. The iii comes with a better case and a nicer hand engraving. Otherwise there's not much difference in tone and playability.

I actually winded up buying an 82z, which felt much more natural to my playing.
