I have a YAS-62 ca 1988 that is minty-minty because I haven't played it in almost 35 years (due to prolonged ill health). I've just recently broken it out again, along with my YFL-225S (flute) which is still somewhat minty even though its a year or two older and got a lot more use. Flute and harp were my primary instruments. (I have 2 harps as well but I don't play anymore, mostly because I finally figured out in my old age that the idea that I was harp-smitten was something instilled in me by my mother. I actually don't care that much for the harp. I like cello. What can I say. The brain-washing started at age 3.)

Most folks keep calling this "purple" label but that label is red to me. Dark red maybe, but still red, not purple. ?!!?

Look upon my mintyminty "purple" label YAS-62, ye mighty, and despair!

recently returned to playing after some decades away. Ended up picking up a new YAS-62iii and loved it so much, I had to get it an older friend. Found a near mint YTS-62 from 1993 so stamped logo, but non-tilting key table and pretty close to the purple logos. Only needed a little minor adjustment and plays great. Probably a little freer blowing than the alto. Love them both so far.

Just found this club in my "New" feed and am very happy to declare my eligibility to join. I was looking for a back-up horn for my vintage tenor but one I would be happy to take to a gig. I tried the brass and the bronze Yani's, a couple of Selmer's and looked briefly at the Yamaha 62 but because it was under my budget I mistakenly thought it would not measure up. Then just after a lunch gig I was standing in my local music shop (Tom Lee in Hong Kong) and I thought what the heck I'll play test the 62. What a surprise I got! I could immediately dial in my own sound concept, it had as beautiful a tone as my vintage tenor (I had them both out, moving the mpc back and forth) and the keywork was slicker then Bill Clinton. I took it to my friend who has a stack of MkVIs and SBA's and he marvelled as to how good it was, then I told him the price. He was visibly shocked. Anyway I've had my YTS-62 MkIII since September 2020 and it has become my main horn.
I got my YTS62 last November, I tried several metal and HR mpcs and now I play it with Meyer 6M HR and Dukoff 6. It's a wonderful high quality sax for indoor or outdoor gigs. Very good !

I might be 62 addicted as well.

Just bought a YSS 62, as I missed playing the soprano after selling my Yanagisawa S6 a couple of months ago. Dude, do I regret selling this horn, but I guess that the YSS will help me to get over it.

However, as I already play a YAS 62 and a YTS 62, it'll fit quite nicely.
Can't believe that my post happened more than ten years ago... the YSS-62 has been sold in 2017, but I'm looking to get one again. The YAS-62 has been played once since then, means being short of being played "double digit" times since being manufactured back in the 80s. The YTS-62 is also still there, being played and well looked after.

This is a wonderful horn, you are very lucky. This is exactly what i will be looking for when i will be upgrading (but i still need more time in the shed before...)

Thank you yes I am lucky but if I waited till I felt good enough to deserve it, I would never have gotten it! Haha, now I just have a lot more fun practicing which is worth it in and of itself!

I just joined the 62 club! I picked up a 2019 YAS-62IIIs. It’s in the shop getting new black pads with domed resonators, a good cleaning, adjustment, and oiling. I’m excited to get it back this coming week! Here’s what it looks like pre-shop visit. I’ll share post shop visit photos after I get it back. It has such a great tone! It came with an unlacquered V1 neck, and I added the silver plated Retro ’79 neck to it to give it more of that classic ’79 sound.
