I've been noticing some new bands in the UK coming through who are playing ska or something pretty close to it.
Good news for sax players - every ska band needs a horn section!
Whats 'da word on da street' over in the States??
Looks like I'd better dig out that trilby hat and leather box jacket (something tells me it may be a slightly more 'snug' fit these days :D )

I don't think Ska ever left, just more of a niche, club following. If you go to CDBABY.COM, there are tons of artists recording or who have recently recorded.

I was just listening to King Django and The Stubborn All-Stars on the way home from work yesterday. There is so much good music being made that gets absolutely no airtime. I try not to visit CDBABY.COM too much, I'd be broke - but with some good music :D .

Unfortunately, Rap is still the main musical interest here in the states, and white suburban teenagers still can't get mom to take em to the music store to buy the new gangster rap record fast enough. With that said, ska is alive and well here in the states, its just that no one outside of their respective 'scene's know about it. Long Island, and New Jersey probably have some of the biggest, along with Boston and of course Southern California. Its here, you just gotta look a little bit.

I sure do hope it makes a comeback, I've played a whole bunch of different ska bands, and ska rising to popularity again would certainly produce a lot more gigs!

Yeah, I play in a ska band here in the states(Columbus, Ohio) and there are a handful of good ska groups here on the scene. Most of the local bands though are your basic screamo and emo bands you see everywhere, calling them selves some kind of fusion rock band, like "punk metal" or "indie emo rock"

Long Live Ska!
