The "E" prefix simply indicates that it was made in 1965, the year CONN began using letters before the serial numbers to facilitate recycling of numbers.

Get the horn looked at to insure that it is sealing and operating optimally, and it should prove sufficient to learn with.

Of course it is a standard Eb alto.

 

Thank You! I was stressing out there for a day!! What would you say the value of this horn would be? though I don't intend to sell it.

 

JayePDX will give a good value on it but my guess would be about $300 barely playing to about $600 with all new pads.

 

Sounds about right, maybe $150 project to $500 top condition actually.

Wow! I only paid 150 for it. I got it on auction. It seems decent, I will definitely take it to my brothers friend, he is a professional sax repairman.

 

Yes they did! lol. Ive onle seen them on the right except for c melodies. Like I said I am new to saxophones! I hope with hard work I can become "decent".

 

Bell keys (for the most part):
Up to about 1932 = one on each side.
1930s on left side for most, Selmer and King right side.
After about 1980, most on right side.
