Hello! I am new to saxophones. I recently purchased a "supposedly" Conn Shooting Star Alto. I am having my doubts as to what I actually bought now though  It looks different from modern Saxophones. The SN is E45993. About 22" from Curve to Socket. I can not find an E45xxx anywhere and when I do nobody has any answers, I am not concerned to much with how great of an instrument it is bc it is my first and I didn't pay much at all for it. I just want to know if it is a regular Eb Alto? and would it be ok for me to start on?

The "E" prefix simply indicates that it was made in 1965, the year CONN began using letters before the serial numbers to facilitate recycling of numbers.

Get the horn looked at to insure that it is sealing and operating optimally, and it should prove sufficient to learn with.

Of course it is a standard Eb alto.
