Hi Chris, thanks for the great write up.. I intend to get the Aerophone Go. But most likely will just be using the Roland Aerophone Go Plus App.
Are the sounds from the App much better than the built in on board sounds? Are the sounds from the App generated from Roland supernatural engine and similar or better than those from AE-10?

The sounds from the Go Plus App are much better than the built in sounds, especially the saxophone samples.

I don't know if the sounds from the Go Plus App are using the supernatural engine. I haven't heard any comparisons either. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help in this regard.

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum. I'm planning to get the AE-05 in the next few weeks and plan to use it with the SWAM saxophones like chris_yannick. Can any of you confirm whether or not the AE-05 can recognize altissimo fingerings?

I checked on the manual and the AE-05 sax fingering chart stops at the high F#. I checked on the AE-10 manual and altissimo fingerings are included in the chart so I am thinking the AE-05 may not have altissimo fingerings programmed at all? I'd really appreciate it if someone could confirm this.

Thanks!

Hi Saxtino,

Yes the AE-05 recognizes altissimo fingerings out of the box. You can also program your own customized altissimo fingering.

Cheers!

Chris

I have had my aerophone go since last April my previous experience was several years with the Casio digital horn. I use it with the Roland app on an ipad. I love the sound especially the ones through the app (and Bluetooth). Last month Roland came out with the version 1.05 update that gave us more instrument sounds. The update is amazing!
The hardest part coming from the Casio is the physical finger spacing and the reed.

Just to give you an idea what the GO sounds like as a MIDI/Breath controller using high quality saxophone sounds, here is a recording I made after 1 day messing around with the GO. My technique is crap I know. I haven't played a sax in 20 years. To my ears, i can not tell the difference between th SWAM tenor saxophone and an acoustic tenor sax.

I am sure a proper sax player could make this thing sing.
Very cool indeed. I am also using GO with Mr. SAX T...(yes.. the ex SWAM version) and also SWAM Soprano.. just I am having problem is connecting my GO with the mixer....and also... Dynasample XpressO.

Maybe not in the near future. In am email from audiomodeling I was told that an iPad version of their Camelot software is in development and coming soon. If and when it lands, it should be possible to play the SWAM sounds with it. I think.

Wooo..that is great news if in future it combines SWAM and IPADOS together...any source of this news?

I agree with Tenor and Alto. Haven't really played around with the Soprano.

I don't own a Bari so I have no idea how it's supposed to behave like.

I'm basically looking for sax recordings that I like and then adjusting the settings in SWAM accordingly to match the sound as close as possible. I've been able to reproduce a very accurate Tenor sound and now working on the Alto, but I agree it tends to sound a bit like a cheap harmonica especially on the upper range.

If I can reproduce a nice Alto tone, I'll put up a recording.
Would you kindly share how to tweak it in more accurate Tenor timbre?

Hi,
I wanted to know if it is normal for you that after pushing the buttons to do, for example, a low C or a low F, if you remove the 3 fingers of your left hand and continue to blow, the same note remains.
Is it a bug in the FW?

For you AE-05 owner, I finally have a chance to test out my GO with the following combination:

GO + GO plus app (IPAD) via bluetooth = very very little latency
GO + GO plus app (Andriod 8) via bluetooth = unplayable latency
GO + Macbook pro (late 2013 Catalina) + Garageband + Mr. Sax T = No latency at all
GO + Macbook pro (late 2013 Catalina) + Garageband + SWAM Soprano = No latency at all
GO + Dynasample Xpresso = IT WORKS!!!! and powered from USB port. Very organic sounds in most preset but need intense testing.... Stay tuned.

I just bought the AE-05 but haven't actually started using it before I get the software setup. I see the app for IOS and Android but don't understand why there is nothing for regular Windows 10. Can anyone explain why I need the mobile app? Is there any setup where I can just use my laptop?

Hey I am a newbie to this. Had some sax lessons in high school and now I am 60.... I want to get back to sax playing, and I just got my Aerophone GO. This is just AMAZING!

A user (ubizmo) mentioned that he assigned his right thumb button to growl on the Aerophone GO - I can't figure out how to do this.
I download the app and couldn't find it

Thx in advance for helping!

Sylvain

I think the growl is only in the AE-10, not the GO.

No, you can get the growl in the GO. I have sold my GO, so I can't check how I did it, but I'm pretty sure I used the app to change the system midi settings. I think it was cc23.

Ok, I accept that if you say so. I can't find it in the GO manual, but it's in the AE-10 manual. I don't know the app well, and not at all for the GO.
