Been doing the Google thing and came up with little or no info. Anyone know of any Rock & Roll Soprano sax players? Would be interested in hearing of any artist or sound clips.

Are you sure of that, John ? I thought Rodney Slater was the one responsible. AFAIK "I'm The Urban Spaceman" was recorded in 1968, after Bob Kerr had left the band. Anyway, Bob Kerr plays trumpet and cornet: I don't think he plays soprano sax (though I could be wrong).I'M AN URBAN SPACEMAN-BONZO DOG DOO-DAH BAND-BOB KERR-SOPRANO
In that case, definitely check out Soul Serenade by King Curtis. He plays very funky licks on the soprano on that one. No reason you can't play the same licks on soprano as on alto or tenor. It's just that the tone/timbre is so different.astuart said:What I was looking for and haven't heard is a special funky sound or rock sounding riffs that a rock player would use if he played soprano. Similar to tenor or alto but played on soprano.

I didn't know it was a saxello, but I'd be willing to bet if he played it on soprano, no one could tell any significant difference. It's the style he uses that matters.Michael Ward said:Is King Curtis playing sop on Soul Serenade or saxello ?... it's saxello ..same but different.
