You have a Beaugnier Model 39 tenor. A wonderful instrument and plays a little bright.

Looks like it might not be straight, though - something a tech can fix.

 

Thanks for the reply, after looking at it some more I think it may have been repaired at some point which may haves caused it to be bent, although i might be looking at something different then what you were looking at. Also, how much do you think it might be worth.

Yes, I had one of these and later sold it on. I had it the same time as a Selmer and tended to play the Noblet.

 

Q: did you keep the Selmer?

 

A Model 39 is the rarest of the Noblets....it has the most 'modern' keywork layout. Great horns, IMHO one for $1000 in playing shape...is a real bargain. They easily outperform vintage horns priced double....

I am not seeing anything dramatically bent or out of plumb.....

Beaugnier (who made Noblets) seems to have existed from late 50's-mid 70's. I don't believe a 39 is a 50's horn, however, I believe is was a model they introduced pretty late in the game.

But anyways, if you won it already, good buy. Definitely worth investin in some tech work to get it top-play shape. If you don't have anyone locally who can do that for a fair price, message me. I love working on these, and as there aren't many....the opportunity doesn't come up often.

 

Thanks, all in all I think I have about 900 in it. My dad bought it for like 150 and a repad costed 750, although I’m starting to lose confidence in the local tech because of some of the pads not sealing, although it might not of been his fault. I would love to get it playing well so I’ll probably message you about it although I currently only have around 35 in my wallet so ide probably have to consult my parents about it.

 

How long ago was it overhauled? It’s not uncommon for a horn to go back in for adjustment after some playing time as the new materials settle in. Usually there is no charge for this, but it varies from one tech to the next. Great horn, it’ll serve you well!
