I was going through some of the old threads in the classical forum and came across a rather interesting thread - "Schools of Playing". One post gave me an idea on a project. #38 EZ mentioned about making a "family tree" sort of speak with classical saxophonists and their teachers.
Which brings me to here, aside from practicing I'm not doing anything for the rest of my break (two weeks to go) and though this might be a good project that can not only benefit me, but future students. Ever since I really got into learning about different "schools" and the various players I've found it very difficult to say to some students "well this guy studied with this guy, but really he plays like this guy but in reality he plays like himself and founded a new school" (this is a generality).
Now here's where I need your guy's help, I need a list of players and their teachers that I may not know about. The layout is starting with Marcel Mule and Sigurd Rascher (there will be separate branches for Allard, Delangle, etc...) and will be based from a pedagogic-standpoint.
Any suggestions on format are welcomed and of course details on players.
I realize that this is a challenge considering that many players have studied under various teachers but I believe the end result will be worth it. And once I finish I will be sure to post the finished product here so everyone can use it.
