Hi! I'm searching for an alto model to upgrade from my current Bundy Selmer II. I found this YAS-62 that's selling in Aliexpress, but the price seems to be "to good to be true". I asked the seller whether this saxophone was made in Japan or China, and he told me that it was manufactured by Yamaha China OEM factory.

What do you think?

I will amend this slightly to state my standard rule of thumb: Never buy any BRAND NAME equipment from these vendors. Do not do it. It's very unlikely that you'll get what's advertised. But if you want to buy a generic sax or mouthpiece that is honestly promoted as a generic sax or mouthpiece, go ahead. It could be a fair deal for you if the price is right. There's a place in the world for cheap gear sold cheaply, if that's what a buyer wants. But there's no place for cheap gear sold fraudulently.

I am pretty sure Yamaha makes the 62 series as well as all their other professional level saxophones in Japan. Student saxes are manufactured in Indonesia at a wholly owned and operated Yamaha facility.
Yamaha instruments are always stamped with the country of origin.

Aliexpress seems like a roll of the dice, could be OK, could go wrong (I mean for things other than fakes, which there are a ton of). If I was going to buy a Chinese horn again I would go with Eastern Music on ebay, they have a good rep and customer service.

Aliexpress is absolutely the worst place to buy an authentic brand instrument. I use Aliexpress and Alibaba and have always had great customer service, fast shipping and an accurately described item but we are talking mouthpieces, bobbles for the home, some small car accessories. The issue with Aliexpress is returns and refunds. Make sure you know what you are getting before you buy on those sights.
