Interesting horn ! Yani, back in its early years started out making horn models like this, vaguely reminiscent of a Martin Comm 3. They show up now and again on eBay. So I have seen altos and tenors like this, and they really WERE made by Yani.

I have never seen one referred to as a t800, however.

Although it's interesting it is stamped as that.

I would say you can rest assured it's a real Yani. I would also say that these do NOT have much market value, their very early ones. $1500 in the USA, maybe. Maybe $1700 for someone who is a vintage sax buff, and assuming it plays/speaks absolutely great.

Reason being, these aren't the horns which made Yani famous, these were the ones they were cutting their teeth on before they hit their real success formula. I bet it's a very respectable horn, but it doesn't have the market value of a 'modern' Yani.

From what I read they don't sound like a martin despite the he visual resemblance. No idea how they actually sound though. I think people call them the T-3 model.
Curious indeed. Lots of cues that this is a T3 era horn. Late 60s.
Ten years too old to be a pukka T800. Despite the stamp. 🤷🏽‍♀️

It was confirmed T3 by an Yanagisawa artist. Thanks for your help!

The cool thing about Yanagisawa is that the name of the model of saxophone varied according to the market where they (saxophones) were sold.

That one is indeed a T-3 in Japan, but outside Japan may be named in a different way.

This has been discussed multiple times in this section of SOTW.

I doubt this one valueable as a regular T-800 (last mid-70's - early 80's).
