A genuine, bona fide, SOTW love in. :) I'll just go put on my beads and tye dyed shirt, then we can all drop some acid and maybe even find a war to protest against.

Peace, Love, and Mung Beans to all.

Surely one of the more diverse, classical/jazz/showpit, single/double/no-reed players hereabouts is Merlin.

What, with both chords?
Oh, and then there's Pete Thomas, who helped teach this young alto player what JUMP was all about on a Joe Jackson album ca. 1981.

Thanks for the props Paul!

I've always dug your recordings, and your devotion to pre-bop; I definitely classify you as one of the truly musical players in this community.

HOW 'BOUT YOU !!!

:|

By the way...someone who should get more ink is Paul Lindemeyer I heard his CD "100 YEARS FROM TODAY" and really appreciated the amount of personal integrity he put into the project.

Anyone who plays beautiful tunes like ; I Remember You, I Wished On The Moon,If I Should Lose You, Oh! You Crazy Moon,Close Your Eyes is doing the right thing in my book. With class and with integrity.
The clarinet on" I wished On the Moon" just swings like mad, I really enjoyed that too. This guy knows how to get the melody across too!!!

The Paul Lindemeyer Quartet
100 YEARS FROM TODAY- featuring Chris Flory

More SOTW folks should be checkin' this mans work out.

also; MARK RYBISKI.This dude is fonky and playin' great.

A long time bro'...and fonky great tenor player with soul.
This kinda guy is the backbone of the saxophone, he always said cool stuff about everyone else.....but have you dug him??? WOW CAN HE WAIL!!!!!
TEXAS TENOR PLUS!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad he's my friend. GREAT TENOR PLAYER!!!

Also Dean- aka MADGROCER has some great stuff to play on his horns.
What an asset HE could be to any high school system, WHAT ENERGY!
We all work with vegetables in life:badgrin: but come on' Dean.....STEP OUT more!!;) :D More should know his stuff.

YEA- LES...I reviewed his CD years ago & in Sax Journal and knew this guy was one of the daddies of hard blowing Bostonian saxophone styles. Les Arbuckle. Great player & knows the horn inside out.

How about,,, some of the others??? Paul Cohen, Fred Lipsius, Julian Pressley <sideC> , Richard Booth aka Bootman. Great musicians who dedicated heart and soul to the horn. In various ways. I'm sure I'm missing cats to that I have yet to have the pleasure of hearing. Eg- Honkbop Eric S'....I've heard nothing but flowing kudos on his hard edge approach. So many people who are serious...each in their own way. :)

Guys like Mike S'...or Larry G'....sure have a message too. Mike S got a nice duo thing going in the lower Bucks Pa scene and Larry G played with me at a church and did a fantastic tenoristic job.
Even tho Mike S is the " mailboy" :toothy10: for TimPriceJazz between me and my friend Bob Rockwell in Denmark, he's making his mark as a player, step by step. Ditto Larry,a brilliant cat, who makes great stuffed olives too!!! ( cheers!! )

In my book- Everyone got something to say. EVERYONE.

Lots of good names mentioned so far.

Mad Duran posts here from time to time. She can flat out play.
Hurling,,, THAT WOMAN PLAYS IN A LEVEL OR A ZONE THAT INSPIRES ME.

I had the pleasure last year, of finally meeting her in person, and aside from the obivious beauty in her looks and personality....SHE IS ONE OF MY FAVS!!

A stunning improvisor and world class artist.

The "other road " of playing some internal-thoughts etc are the hardest road- and she really hits it.
Her stuff knocks me out. She makes great salsa too!!!
A natural player and kind soul.

ALSO- Roger Aldridge sounds great too.....beautiful clarinet player!!!!

Tim, where have you heard Mark Rybiski play? He and I have conversed for years now, and I can seem to get him to find a recording of himself.

Great guy.
Bill- He dub'd a live set of stuff he did. He should get it to ya.

LOOK,, I'm sure you saw the many flattering things he's said my direction....but I knew he was total soul from the start. I was knocked out to hear him play like this.

This CD has 12 cuts and he SOUNDS unreal.
If I walked into a joint and heard him live....I'd be there all nite checkin him him out, drinking beer & eating wings lovin' his stuff. ( maybe some tequila too) THIS GUY HAS THE STUFF. His sound is great too, HUGE!!!!!!!!

I met him at Snug Harbor, 2 years back, and was in NOLA to do a Coltrane Tribute...he was at the club hangin'. What a NICE CAT TOO.

He's to humble. Trust me- he should be better known.

ALSO- JIMMY CARPENTER....YUP- JIMMY CARPENTER.Bada@s.
Another monster player, workin man tenor player.

Tim I am so honored my playing makes you want to get into some eatin' and drinkin' Ha! Man my biggest musical wet dream would be to do a recording together with you, Rachel Z and your supa bad crew on your funky bassoon project. We could certainly lay down some serious artery clogging grease pieces!

Working name could be "Deep Brew, Philly Cheesesteak and Texas BBQ"

Besides Tim's massive tenor chops he does some very sinful stuff not attempted by the lighthearted on the bassoon that will make you start spelling Funk with a PH.
