A bit more detail...and this has changed some recently

TENOR mpc: Selmer Soloist E (one of the new ones but a good one); Rovner Dark Lig, Rico Jazz Select 3M filed (although I'm almost ready to move to 3H)
ALTO mpc: Selmer S80 C* with Rico Reserve Classic 3's; also have a vintage metal C* on which Hemke 3's play well; and also a Meyer 5M with Rico Jazz Select file 2H's
SOPRANO mpc: Selmer S80 G (came with the horn when I bought it), Rico Jazz Select 3S.

Buffet Dynaction Setup

I play a Buffet Dynaction and have a few different setups . I rotate usually every two or three months between these setups but stick with one at a time.

I play the following on Zonda 3.5 substrength K reeds and Rico Jazz select 4M.

Otto Link STM NY 5* with Lelandais lig from the 1940's, similar to a Link lig . This is my main metal mouthpiece.

Bilger Silver * 90 tip Rovner dark lig.
Morgan 5L Rovner dark lig

Vandoren T45 Java Blue with a Bari plastic medium reed is my main hard rubber setup. Rovner dark lig.

The buzzy sound with the T45 and the dark Dynaction is the sound I receive the most compliments on. Espicially when playing alone. It is a different approach to my playing, with a lighter more vocal tone leaning towards a Lester Young feeling.

Razzy do the Reso chambers project well? I always had the impression they needed alot of air to bring out the best but that is just me looking at the chamber design from pictures.

Seamus Blake plays on a Reso 5*/6 on RJS 4 reeds.
You're certainly under an accurate impression, it takes a lot of air and a really focused airstream to get it to ring. The harder reeds really make it happen and demand tons of support. Nothing like it, though, when you get your sound out of it.

This mouthpiece is quite a close tip. If I had to guess I'd say 5* but I have no way to measure it accurately. It feels and looks like the 5* area. Funny that Seamus uses the same kinds of reeds. I had some 3M's and they felt too soft so I picked up the 4M's and bingo. He did a clinic here a few weeks ago and sounded amazing. He moves a TON of air through the horn. I wouldn't be surprised if Seamus's has the Joe Allard facing too, I wasn't able to ask him. His does have a cracked shank though. He said that he was taking it off the horn once and CRACK there it went, so he had a metal band put on and it's good as new.

Tenor Setup

I'm now Playing a 151xxx series Selmer MK VI Tenor with Ralph Morgan 8M. Reeds are in flux right now...Alexander Superials str 3/3.5 and ? I'm using a Rovner 2M ligature I think....dark.... I'm actually trying to figure out what different ligature to use with this setup. Any opinions and info appreciated.

I notice the Rovners kind of "deaden" the sound a bit. On my alto (silver plate 82z) the stock ligature with the Yamaha horn actually gives a better result than my Eddie Daniels Rovner Ligature. On the alto I'm using the Ralph Morgan 6M.
