Anyone own a Selmer Aristocrat? How good and/or bad are they and what are/were their best years?

I don't own one, but being a Buescher fan I've read many posts relating to these. The first generation Selmer/Buescher Aristocrats were decent saxes. They will still have the wire key guards and stamped Buescher horizontally and Aristocrat vertically on bell. These were the last Aristocrats totally manufactured by Buescher. Selmer USA kept making these until parts ran out right after they bought out Buescher. These were a step down from the pro Aristocrats of the 1940's/50's, but still solidly built and good players. These would be the best years of this type of Selmer/Buescher Aristocrats. (early 1960's serial #'s 383xxx-540xxx) For awhile they had decals on the bell. Once they started going to the fancy looking sheet metal key guards and stamped Buescher 200 Aristocrat on the bell they became basically a Bundy II clone in the 1970's. I started out on one of these. Got me through high school.

Also, the modern "Aristocrats" are made by Selmer in China (or a Chinese company bought the Aristocrat/Buescher name-can't remember). I have heard these are typical cheaply made modern horns. They only have the Aristocrat/Buescher name, nothing in common with past generations of horns.

I had one for a little while, after a 10 year long break from sax and even longer one for tenor sax (been playing alto and sop in the meantime).
I found it at a reasonable price, in very good condition (photos here: ), nearly as new pads, and it had a good sound. A bit uncomfortable to play, but to be honest I don't think it had even been set up from his previous owner, probably it could've been improved.
If I remember correctly it was serial 463xxx, which places it in 1967, so only 4 years after the takeover.
After a few weeks I came across an amazing 1954 King Zephyr, and bought it, so the Bundy had to go. It was good, but not even a chance of comparison with the Zephyr I'm afraid.

What's the serial number of the horn in question? Without that, you're not going to get anything useful.
