Sax-On is a woodwind and brasswind dealer specializing in saxophones and saxophone accessories as well as being a full-service repair shop for all types of woodwind and band instruments. It was formerly Atelier del Viento in a smaller shop at a different location for more than 10 years until Diego Chono Gonzalez, the founder of the business, partnered with Miguel Fernandez and opened the new store in a much larger space not too far from the first store. Sax-On is the largest, most complete, and most professionally oriented saxophone, woodwind and brasswind business in Spain and counts among it's many customers and clients teachers and students of the major music conservatories in Barcelona, most of the best known professional saxophonists in this part of Spain, a large number of amateur musicians and music students, and many professional saxophonists in Barcelona to perform.
Along with their tech and sales assistant Luciano, Diego and Miguel specialize in new and vintage saxes and are the official dealers for a number of major professional sax makers including Keilwerth, Rampone & Cazzini, P. Muriat, Selmer, D'Addario, Buffet and others. They have the full line of Keilwerth, R&C, Selmer and P. Muriat saxes in stock from sopraninos to baritones. They have a good size stock of vintage saxes made by Conn, king, Buescher, SML, Keilwerth, Borgani, Selmer, Martin, etc. They also are dealers for quality mouthpieces by the likes of Pilinger, Drake, Theo Wanne, Vandoren, Selmer, Phil-Tone, Phil Barone and up until his recent sad passing, Freddie Gregory, who was a personal friend of Miguel and Diego.
Diego is a fully trained, highly qualified and well-experienced technician who has been repairing and making woodwind instruments for over 20 years, first in his native Buenos Aires, Argentina, and for quite some time in Barcelona. He is the head of the technical and repair section where he is aided by his assistant Luciano Ceraso, also a native of Buenos Aires. Miguel, a native of Pamplona and a saxophonist graduate of Berklee in Boston, is the manager of sales and artist relations. Through his connections with well known musicians in Europe and the USA, in the year and a half since they opened, Sax-On has held workshops for their clients with Dave Liebman, Jerry Bergonzi, Alex Terrier, Theo Wanne, Adam Kolker, Gaël Horellou, Arno Bornkamp among others and such professionals as Jesse Davis, are regular customers.
