Had a chance to try out a Metal Bahia from Rafael. Having played Tenor for the last 35 years I swore I would never lay out $700 for a mouthpiece so I wasn't all that committed to the evaluation going into it. That all changed after a couple of hours with the Bahia. Holy cow, what an experience. Like many, I have been searching for that sound in my head. Call it a mix of Andy Sheppard, Brecker, Branford, and Bob Berg. I currently play a Link HR Slant however my Altissimo chops were never really that good so I have been going through a number of pieces lately looking for Mrs Right. (Theo Wanne, Jody Jazz DVNY, Ponzol, Modern Guardala, Vintage Berg, Mouthpiece Cafe etc.) All good pieces to be sure but for me, none had the emotional connection like the Navarro. If you are a long term player you know what I am talking about. These pieces are very personal, much like how an old SBA or 10M feels. I hope Rafael is insanely successful. He's not one for HYPE and mass marketing like some of the others out there and I have heard that he's a great guy. Now if I can figure out a way to hide this purchase from the spouse
