I'm learning (still) the tenor sax and I want to try to improvise over a friends guitar chords. How do I take his chords such as: Bm7 F#m7 Em7 A C#m7 and determine the proper tenor sax keys?
Welcome to SOTW! Play them one-step higher (the guitar being a concert pitch instrument and your tenor being a Bb instrument). To match a concert-pitch instrument, you must play a step higher . . .
B = your C#, F# = your G#, etc. DAVE
