LAST WEEK I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH IMFLAMMATION IN MY MIDDLE EAR. I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH AUDITION AND DIZZINES. MY DOCTOR SAID TO ME THAT THE PRESSURE IN MY EAR WAS TOO HIGH CAUSE THE CONDUCT THAT GOES FROM THE MIDDLE EAR TO THE BACK OF THE NOSE WAS SUFFERING FROM INFLAMMATION. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT HE SUGGEST THAT ALL SAX PLAYING HAVE TO BE STOPED BECAUSE HE TOLD ME THAT IT CAN INCREASE THE PRESSURE OF THE EAR. HE RECOMMENDS THAT UNTIL MY EAR IS CURED I HAVE TO STOP PLAYING. !!THAT IS ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE TO ME BECAUSE I HAVE SO MANY PRESENTATIONS THIS MONTH.
PLEASE SOMEBODY KNOWS IF THE SUGGESTION OF THE DOCTOR IS OK?
I DON'T WANT TO STOP PLAYING, BUT I WANT TO BE HEALTHY IN MY GIGS.
WHAT A MESS AH?

Durand, while it's not out of the question that some here have had a similar experience, I suggest if you want a second opinion you ask another doctor. Was that a general practitioner or an ENT specialist you talked to?

Durand,
Only a doctor can answer your question. If I were you and I were in a situation like you, I would go and see another doctor, to be absolutely sure.

Your ears and hearing are so important to you and your life as a player that you should not take any risks.

Durand,

I agree with Gary and rini, you need a second opinioin from a Doctor. Gary is also right about seeing an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist. I know from my experience with my son, most General Practitioners do not have the experience with the ear to make an accurate diagnosis.
