Just got my alto Zephyr Series III, love it so far, but was wondering what endplugs will fit in it? Makes me nervous to carry a horn around without one, I remember my middle school band days and seeing one kid bend the octave key on accident. Dont want that to happen, so any of you know which brand of endplug will fit my Zephyr alto?

The cheap plastcky ones sold on ebay for $1.50 by BandGeekWarehouse, and the like, work.
I have one in my 281xxx zep tenor.

If it is a bit too big, cut a strip of sandpaper, wrap it around the part that slides into the horn
and smooth it down some.

I have two homemade end plugs. For one I took a block of wood to my friend who has a lathe, for the other I found a cork champagne cork that fit perfectly (their size varies, so you may have to drink more than one bottle). Both are working fine.

My grandfather used his wood lathe to turn me an endplug for my King C tenor, about 30 years ago! It not only fits the horn, but the larger end fits exactly in the hole bored by King into the head of the case to hold whatever the original endplug was. When removed from the horn, it looks like a wooden flattop mushroom, and it endears my C tenor to me more and more as the years go by (Grandfather died 20 years ago). And it does its job perfectly!

I have two for my Super 20. Not sure if the Zephyr uses the same one or not. The second one I got it in with a bunch of parts I purchased off eBay. The good thing about the Super 20 is the octave lever does not extend past the neck opening. Greatly reduces the chance of bending this part.
