well as i was searchin through the forum, i saw that there were many problems with the G1 neck. Does this affect the G1 Custom necks that come with the 82z or the regular that comes with the 62II?? And also, when were the "defective necks" manufactured with the saxs?

There were problems with the G1 necks early on, yes. However, Yamaha apparently has taken care of it. I would suspect that 9.9 out of 10 Yamaha saxes (62II or higher) have a perfectly fine G1 packaged with them.

I actually asked about this when I started working at a band/orch retail store in my area. The Yamaha rep assured me that the problems were taken care of. I've play-tested most of the Yamahas that have come through our store in the last year, and there isn't a problem intonation-wise.
