I have been using a Shure unit for 15-20 years with absolutely no issues at all. I needed a unit that had multiple channels for travel. I have 2 mics and bodypacks. Each bodypack is mounted on the low Bb guard of the alto and tenor with a metal holder so I do not have to remove the bodypack.

No need for body packs anymore. I just saw a Samson Airline model on Amazon for $299 ... I've used it for years and never had a problem.

I've been using a Samson Airline 77 wireless for 10 years or more and it's always been fine. The only time it fails is when I leave the same AAA battery in for 2-3 gigs in a row. I either start with a fresh battery now or carry a spare battery in my pocket for insurance.

Anybody know which one Sanborn uses? I've seen it on stage but don't know the brand. It's mounted directly over the bell without touching it, and there are three arms which mount to the bell. Looks kind of springy too.

I don't know, but I saw him last night here in Portland, OR. He's wired to it, whatever it is - cord trailing behind him. The sound man did a crappy job for the first few songs, causing feed back from his monitors. Finally he called the tech on stage between songs and sent him back there, and it got somewhat better. Later when he was grooving around with Marcus Miller his mike came off and landed on the stage. Got it back on quickly with no problem.

Great show! Sanborn even sang a number. It was alright, but he shouldn't give up the sax :tsk:

World class band, I kid you not. Marcus Miller, George Duke, Louis Cato on drums and I think the other keyboard player was Federico Gonzalez Pena. Some serious funk took place. Yup.
