I am a player and a sort of collector. I'm unlikely to see an ebay horn that will play better than any I have, so if I'm tempted it's usually something to "collect", e.g. a nice Conn Artist or a Conn-O-Sax . Invariably there are fewer and fewer such horns at starting priced I'd even conntemplate.
Anything that is not a real gamble (ie good pics/feedback etc.) is going to not end up at a reasonable price.
