You've got a Malerne. You can see the Malerne-engraved version of your horn HERE.I picked up a York tenors saxophone. It is a bit of a mystery because it has a low serial number 1523. It has left hand bell keys. After reading around a bit on York, It seems they made their own horns for a while and then stenciled some. Another post suggests the LH bell keys were introduced sometime around 1938. I am curious if anyone can identify it or its stencil manufacture. The York name on the engraving is very hard to read. The engraving is scratched up. It is the vertical Letters YORK. It is missing the middle palm key and rod. Knowing its stencil manufacturer may help me find a replacement - if its even worth repairing.
Here are some pictures http://picasaweb.google.com/109313117879291708195/York# There is a bent gaurd over the bottom bell key - don't let that thow you.
It is fun to figure out what these old horns are.
