Why has this not been 'beefed up'??
Frankly it is very poor--even on a 'cheapo' sax it would be poor. The rodscrew is too short and too thin and the whole assembly starts rocking about in a matter of months from new. The barrel on the key can't be swedged and is too small to drill out oversize plus the 'sheet metal ' cradle looks cheap. Had two 992 tenors (bronze) in just recently for minor tweaks and service and in both instances the upper o/key has been floating around.
My own soprano was just as bad until I replaced the barrel and rod screw.
Considering the so called 'standard of excellence' attributed to Yanni's I'm really surprised this potential fault has not been addressed.

They ought to ditch the sheet metal cradles/saddles they're still using for pillars mounted on baseplates as most saxes have - the saddles remind me of the old DDR-era B&S saxes. The waterkey on their baris are also saddle mounted.

The 901 series altos and tenors now have pillar mounted side C and Bb pad cups when they were previously saddle mounted which meant a very short screw thread as with all bent sheet metal saddles which are made from around 2mm thick brass at most. On Yanagisawa sopranos, there's plenty of room to have the palm keys mounted between pillars as well.
