Hello everyone. I had a chance to try a Selmer Reference 54 tenor sax neck on a Yanagisawa T901 today and could not believe how it made the Yanagisawa sound like a Reference tenor, real close at least with a Selmer core (not kidding). It fit perfectly without any adjustment needed with the tenon or octave key and the intonation was spot on. I couldn't believe it. The Yanagisawa is an amazing horn and its sound reminds me of a Series III Selmer but the Reference 54 neck was amazing in that it was free blowing, dark and rich sounding on the Yanagisawa. Just thought I would share the experience. Any one else experience this? So now the question is .... a bronze Yanagisawa neck or a Reference 54 neck? Comments welcome.
