It is an upgrade from the 23 although not much price difference when they're new. The 23's are priced pretty high for a student horn. 1,000 is a very fair price for a 52 tenor. For what it's worth, the 52's were still made in Japan. The 475's (same thing really) are made in China and Indonesia now.
Interesting. It is the tenor model that I am looking into. Does anyone know why some yts 52's have small wing like engravings underneath the company name yamaha on the bell and others don't ?
