My first outing with a Yamaha of any kind, and I see what the fuss is about now with these YAS 23 student horns! This Yamaha just plays...in tune! And...I got it for less than a $100, with a little adjustment work.

My first sax as a kid, a Selmer USA Bundy II, was brand new in 1987...and I think it was made on a Friday in Elkhart at exactly 4:50PM. It fell apart halfway through my middle school year (I was always jealous of the Yamaha sax kids...they seemed cooler and happier).

I already have a few saxophones, and I don't play alto, too much (I am mostly soprano). I really needed this for a community sax ensemble I am in for AATB pieces, and may pass this on after I am done with it to my son. Or, I might keep it!

Nice find, chip. I got my first Yammie this year, an old YAS-23, and it's a lot of fun to play. I even gigged with it in February instead of my trusty Zephyr alto, and no one was the wiser. Enjoy!

Here's a little-known secret:

'Yamahas play in tune'...when they are set up and regulated to play in tune.

When they are not regulated well....they don't. 'tis true.

Congrats on your purchase . :bluewink:
