I've always be courious on what the serial numbers mean. I know what the YTS or what ever it is, but is there anything in the serial number I can learn about the horn also?

except for the year when it was made.

with Yamaha you have to call them. Then they can tell you whether it was made with inferior modern sterile metals or vintage superior resonating metals .... of course i'm just kidding .. modern metals aren't that sterile =-)

also some serial numbers may have an L or H or HP around the serial number -- L for Low Pitch and H/HP for high Pitch at 442
