Can anyone please comment on how the neck octave pip location varies between the various Yamaha Custom (M1, G1, G3, C1, V1) and Yanagisawa alto sax necks (64.65, 66) currently available?
I just tried putting a Yani A992 stock neck onto a YAS-855 alto. The troublesome palm key notes dropped right into tune. The A992 octave pip is considerably higher (closer to the mpc) than the 855's. The neck seems to fit ok on the other horn.
It makes sense. Music Medic's website has a discussion of a study they did.
