I finally got this album, and let me tell you, it is just INCREDIBLE. I can't believe I waited to ever get it, I'm in awe! Anyone else deal with the likes of this album? Great sounds there, man, great sounds.
I have most of WSQ's cds. They are awesome!!!!!!!!!!I love how Hamiet Bluiett play Sophisticated lady in the altissimo register on bari on the duke ellington cd. I really dug experience;it's a great cd.
I picked this up a few years back, and while I love the "heads" on the songs (especially Foxey Lady), the solos all seemed a little too disjointed for me. It almost seems like they decided that everyone would solo at the same time sometimes. That being said, each one is an amazing player in thier own right, and the ensemble passages were on point. I just wish there would've been a little more direction in the solos.
