Woodwind repair tech in-training

Hi all,

New to the group, woodwind repair tech in-training here! I'm a saxophonist, taught elementary music for five years, and I recently decided to take an opportunity working at a clarinet shop where I am enrolled in a clarinet repair course, and starting saxophone in January. I'm loving it so far! Any advice from other techs? How did you all get started?

Glad to be here, thanks for having me!

Two excellent reference books are available: The Complete Woodwind Manual by Reg Thorpe and The Saxophone Manual by Stephen Howard. You do not have to be a member of NAPBIRT to purchase the book from their website. You might also consider joining. I have found NAPBIRT to be an invaluable source of support, training, and education since I became a member 18 years ago. Another good resource are the Repair Guides at MusicMedic.com.
