Woodwind repair tech in-training

Hi all,

New to the group, woodwind repair tech in-training here! I'm a saxophonist, taught elementary music for five years, and I recently decided to take an opportunity working at a clarinet shop where I am enrolled in a clarinet repair course, and starting saxophone in January. I'm loving it so far! Any advice from other techs? How did you all get started?

Glad to be here, thanks for having me!

Buy several junk / parts horns. Practice every kind of repair. Dents, reattaching posts. Stuck rods, bent tubes, mashed keys and bent anything. Learn soldering or straightening bodies. Do it all on the test subjects. Then learn pad work & tuning.

Good luck
