I think it's Mr Holland's Opus w/ Richard Dryefus and Mo' Better Blues, but I see somebody already answered the latter ( I would have gotten it though. Wish that movie was a little more about music and less about p****.)

the remaing ? is
In what major US studio movie did a major character apologize for playing John Coltrane music by saying--"next time I will play better music for you"

The interesting thing about the scene for me was that at first got excited about hearing this beautiful trane recording then was shot down by the above dialogue

After this is over, Houston will produce a reality TV show. Based on the old Treasure Hunters series, the program will fly teams of SOTWers all over the world on a scavenger hunt to find his lost Reference 36!

Is it hidden in the belly of the Sphinx? Is it buried in Grant's Tomb?

That is not the correct name of the movie. Technically speaking.
Anyway, since when is the Bronx the "jazz capital"! Somebody who cares about this ought to call a foul!

I thought it was Queens!:?

Well YEAH! :D Or it's more like YEAAA-ah. Trying to capture the inflection my 6-year-old uses. Grates on my nerves like fingernails on tofu.
