One aspect that should be considered:

The low A alto would have the same range as a viola, and the two instruments would also blend well tonally.

Also, alto saxophone played with a solid classical tone could have tremendous tonal impact for solo work in an orchestra. In fact, the alto and/or tenor would add a fresh tone color that is generally covered by the French horn in pre-twentieth century orchestrations.

Also, a low 鈥楢鈥 tenor would be very large. (like the Lopes ones).
