I have these disabled. There's a significant plethora of spam and pop-ups that result if you don't. Before I enable these for this site, why am I being asked for this on the forum now when I wasn't before?

There have been no changes to the forum platform nor any plug-ins installed recently.
You are writing of ' plethora of spam and pop-ups'. Have you actually witnessed any or is this is a hunch or fear?

May have picked up some malware/spyware somewhere maddenma.

For some reason, on the 23rd, I got more than 1 request for Active X controls from the forum. Haven't seen them since though. Given that there's nothing on here, besides external advertising or something else that wasn't obvious that would need this, it got my attention.

Doesn't seem to be here now though. I'll file it in the mystery file.
