Jan Garbarek
Bob Malach

If it means I have to listen to Jimmy Buffet, then no one ;).

I just can't do it.

But if I had to, then it'd be MartySax all the way!

Sidenote, I hope Marty is doing well.

My friend Tom was his sax player for over a decade. The last time I saw JB, I was dragged to the show by a bunch of friends, and he was using a trumpet player instead of a sax player. Not a great fit, honestly. His guitar player was excellent though.
I wouldn’t see him again. The show wasnt nearly what I hoped it would be.

I played a gig with those horns players when I lived in Miami. It was mid-90's when that Big Bad Voodoo Daddy/ Brian Setzer stuff got popular.
You're friend Tom is a great player. I just played with them a few times and really didn't stay it touch.

Buffet's music doesn't do anything for me either. I hate to admit I most likely would not be very effective with him. I'm to the point now that I just don't feel anything to play when I don't like the music. When I'm gigging with a group and they play Buffet, I go get a drink.

When I used to listen to Jimmy Buffett back in the Pleistocene era I don't remember any saxophones even on the song called Saxophones. Sorry but I still like his version of God's Own Drunk. I choose Jan Garbarek.

Whoever plays for him would have to play a knock off sax made in China, that has Margaritaville written on the sides. It's all about merchandising, merchandising, merchandising! Jimmy Buffett the salt shaker, Jimmy Buffett the flip flops, Jimmy Buffett the lunchbox. Jimmy Buffett... the saxophone.

You want some Jimmy Buffett super select reeds for that sax? They're made from coconuts and make your lips bleed, but have cute little parrot heads stamped on them.

Speaking of Amy Lee, what is she doing these days? Met her in Macon, Ga many years ago. She came down from Atlanta to play gig. One of her two FB sites indicates that she is living in Hawaii as of 2017.

Damn. Surprised that so many folks have such negative opinions toward JB's music. Great songwriter, always has a good band, and his shows are generally a blast.

Would have been cool to hear Sonny with him while he was still playing. I always thought it would be cool to hear him in a rock setting.
