Can't say . . . what works for me probably would not work for you. What I HAVE discovered is that any mouthpiece that plays well for me (Meyer 6S-M, Morgan-Bilger 6, Super Session F, Soloist F, Don Sinta w/Fibracell 1 1/2, etc.) plays well on my TT alto. DAVE

Yeah, for an alto, whatever mouthpiece you want. Very mouthpiece friendly horns.
any particular suggestions for someone that has not played for about 18 years? I played in high school and then got out of it. Don't have a clue where to start!

Done the same, haven't played for about that long, ordered a Morgan 6M which turned out to be just great. I also have a Link STM which Mojo has worked on and turned it into a very nice piece indeed, I'm very happy with both mpcs, just my very limited experience so far.

Avoid the high end pieces (over $150), don't buy a piece to get it refaced and just start with a brand known for quality off the shelf. In that respect, I'd say look in to a Vandoren hard rubber mouthpiece; like a V5 with a 35 facing if you're into jazz or modern music.

Paul Coats wrote some helpful advice on Mouthpieces you may be interested in. http://www.saxontheweb.net/Learning/mouthpiece.html

My suggestion is to take a trip with your horn to a music shop that has a selection of mouthpieces. It's a good idea to be prepared and take appropriate supplies to clean the mouthpieces before and after you play them. Buy some reads and mouthpiece patches to help support the shop. Put a patch on each mouthpiece to prevent teeth marks. Try out mouthpieces until you find one that you like.
