Play the bassoon. Think of it as more like lower register clarinet with alot of thumb keys. The reeds are easier to deal with. You can get decent reeds from www.forrestsmusic.com It will also get you used to reading bass cleff. A fox is a decent instrument. In you spare time learn oboe too, if you can... I was able to buy a Cabart bassoon off of ebay cheap and get it fixed. The old Kohlerts are good as well.
