Call me dim-witted but I had to look up the word "bursary".

Main Entry: bur·sa·ry
Pronunciation: 'b&r-s&-rE, 'b&rs-rE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -ries
Etymology: Medieval Latin bursaria, from bursa
1 : the treasury of a college or monastery
2 British : a monetary grant to a needy student : SCHOLARSHIP

Why not a new horn?

i think with 1200 you can get more for a vintage horn,
Absolutely right on that point. I'll take a great vintage horn over a new one in any case!

But there is no way we can answer your question, without knowing the playing condition of all the horns you list. Can you play-test them? I'd try several of them and pick the one that plays best. Bfoster64 has a point. Are you looking for a back-up horn? Seems like it would be hard to beat a SBA....

Now that I've got four good horns, A/T/B/S, I feel downright spoiled. I played them all at a gig on Friday and the crowd loved it. I would definitely recommend filling out your arsenal before looking for a backup alto. Sounds like a great opportunity for you. Good luck!
