PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

I know all you young posters are HIP and COOL. For the sake of us old guys educated before spell check, grammar check, and actually took typing class on a type-writer (google that if you don't know what it is), please write in complete sentences with proper spelling, capital letters, and a period once in a while.

Mis-spelling and/or poor writting is OK even encouraged if funny but this TEXT-MESSAGE shorthand is simply annoying. This is a forum where adults discuss matters of great importance concerning the greatest instrument ever invented - THE SAXOPHONE.

Now back to important matters:

What the best saxophone? :D

SMS language?

A. Greene's point is well taken.
Anyway, it should be of interest to the "TEXT-MESSAGE shorthand" generation to make itself understood here if they want something out of this forum. If not, I will start weeding out the worst cases.

So, my nephew who is in 8th grade added me as a friend on MySpace. He posts all these bulletins that are pretty much written in TXT SPEAK gibberish and I have to wonder if he's using internet slang or if he's just stupid. :?

I think 'wear' in this context should be spelled 'where'

I don't know about you but I wear adults all the time. If I'm walking down the street and I see an adult I like, I pick him or her up and throw them over my shoulders and neck like a scarf.

Shouldn't that actually be:

I had a 2 year old hanging on my arm while typing. That's my excuse for everything lately.
I usually have a 3 year old on my lap when typing. See my avatar, thats almost exactly what it is like when I try to post.

For me this issue is simply one of courtesy.

Anything that makes a post slower to read or more difficult to understand, unless done out of plain ignorance, is discourteous to the reader. It constitutes a statement to the reader that the reader's time is less valuable than that of the writer, which is an insult to the reader.

You don't ask a relative stranger for help, and throw insults at him/her at the same time.

And that includes log posts with lack of paragraphs.

I, too, intensely dislike sms-speak. B4 and gr8 just aren't words! And it's worse in Italian, especially because Italian is not my native language :protest:.

The thing is, when posting in this forum, there actually is an automatic spell-checker at work -- one would have to consciously ignore all those words underlined in red to submit anything, so multiple misspellings should be punishable by a day's worth of the G man's music .

Having said that, I do ignore the spell-checker with words like tranny, mpc, lig and sotw, e.g., which I think are slang words pertinent to the trade. I mean, typing SOTWer is surely better than "Sax on the Web Forum member", isn't it? Maybe I should set up a short-cut macro of some short...oops...I mean, sort :D.

Now, if I can only resist using smilies everywhere.

So which countries spelling is more correct ?

Thats only one meaning of log post.

Using firefox with builtin spell check or safari on a mac, fixes the spelling.
For me its essential as am a bit dyslexic
