Very nice!

Here is a live Count Basie version from 1937 I did put on the Tube long ago, including a tenor solo from Herschel Evans behind singer Jimmy Rushing (starts around 01:30):

So great to see Herschel's bit connected to Dreamboat. He does seem to get extra excited when playing with a singer. The other video that's been up before and stylistically has a Herschel connection at least to me is this wonderful Herb Hardesty Dreamboat.

Was so chagrined to see the Parker as over rated thread apparently removed. Just like the covid threads. Parker arguably the most important jazzman and covid the most important event of these times, it looks like here, you either stick to the narrative, or like the Cadbury secret, we'll shut you down, no matter how serious your thought. I guess I should never bother with a presentation why I feel Herschel was a greater musician than Lester Young. That won't fly.

Dreamboat! What a wonderful name to call a babe. You don't hear that anymore. Herb Hardesty's solo, particularly his first one, made me notice that the song itself is really a collection of two bar call and responses in its structure. "When my Dreamboat" pause "Comes home." His second solo is more long lined and a completed whole as are Herschel's and the OP's, but I find Herb's first solo really remarkable, and now I see it fits in with the structure of the song, something I hadn't realised until the OP's video. Herb will make a musical statement for two bars, then two to answer that, before going back to build on his main statement from the first two bars, then two to give that portion an answer, then carry on in that manner to come up with an overall statement, calls and responses included. I emailed him when he had a website to say how much I loved the solo but I hadn't realised how clever it was and how it reflected the song itself. I was partly hoping he wouldn't get YT to shut it down, as I guessed had happened before. That's why I made sure I put his name in the title.
