Please list your 3 favorite tenor mouthpieces. There's an alto thread on the very same topic that has become very informative. So I though I start a tenor version to see what people are and have been playing.

Be sure to indicate Hard Rubber or Metal if it's not clear. Thanks

I love my Otto Link STM 8, with java 3 reeds. But have also tried a Dukoff D8 and a Jody Jazz DV8* and they worked very well for me as well.

I'll play!

1. NY WW co. B5 (refaced by EZ): a hard rubber masterpiece!

[with no name, Conn?, vintage 2-screw lig and Hemke 3s]

2. Link STM 7* (Refaced by Merlin): a surprisingly bright metal mp, even with the Rovner.

[with Rovner light lig and Lavoz mediums]

3. Vandoren V16 T8 (perfected by EZ): a very nice Ebonite (whatever that is?) neo-vintage piece with a high beak.

[with Vandoren Classic lig and Hemkes or Alexander Superial 3s]

These 3 great pieces are all better than me, but I manage to stink on all of them, albeit in different ways, just fine.

Rory

Ps. I'd like to try a Berg someday, but I find the numbering system really confusing!

In order of preferrence:
1. Tenney BP Link Tone Edge 7 (HR)
2. Tenney "Hollywood" STM Link 7*--but Doc marked it 0.100, so I suppose it's now a 7 (metal)
3. Hite Artist (HR)

I have culled my tenor mouthpieces to these three, and see no need to buy any others. I rarely play the Hite, but it's too nice to let go.

Vintage Tonemaster (.103")
Ponzol HR Custom (.113")

There's probably four that would tie for third place, so I'll just list two.

NY STM (6*) opened to .105/49 (Mojo) My all time favorite.

Selmer Soloist C** opened up to .105 (Brian Powell)

Yanagisawa Metal (9) older hand finished with throat scooped out for fatter tone.

Ernie Northway custom. By far the best tenor mouthpiece I have ever played. Ernie is also a super nice guy and great to work with. Many of my friends who had one before I bought mine said it is the last tenor mouthpiece I would ever buy, and they were right.

I only have two favorites, but I really like them.
