What's wrong with this picture?

The split bell keys don't seem to match the serial number.

Lester Young tenor saxophone and certificate of authenticity. Gift of Marshall Stearns, 1955. ENgraved on bell: MADE/BY/C.G. CONN.ELKHART/IND./U.S.A. On back of body: PATD. DEC. 8 1914/1119954/T/M144444/L. Lacquer worn. New neck. Vulcanized rubber Conn mouthpiece.
A 144k serial number would be one of the very last horns made before the New Wonder II. Lester accidentally put in the wrong serial number in his letter. I wish I could see the bell engraving on that. It looks like a gold plated portrait model.
