Does any of you tech out there knows what's going on with jlsmithco.com?
I ordered few tools off them through internet on 31/07, since then i've sent them 4 more emails. Guess what.. No reply what so ever. I am getting a little pissed off here, they should email even if they don't want to supply anything to me.

Do they have a new policy that they do their best not to contact customers?
Or do they have problems with their internet?

Anybody? :?

fwiw - Jeff Smith, owner of www.jlsmithco.com and www.flutesmith.com are currently in Albuquerque, NM for the International Flute Convention Aug 9-12. You might try calling the shop and talking to Harold Phillips, if he is not in NM also. Being both orders you describe have been placed within the last week, and considering the above, yoiu might want to give them a few days to respond. But that's just my opinion.

I always call my orders in, and I've never had a problem. Their website is always up again/down again/being updated/service outage whatever, so I have never even tried it. I've always used the phone to make my orders, and I've never had a problem doing it that way.

However, I've ordered from them a lot and always gotten my stuff in a pretty timely manner. I'm sure your stuff is already on the way.

Thank you guys for all your posts.
It's a littler difficult for me for phone order cause the time difference(NZ) and cost of phone bill.
I've orderd some tools from them before and they were excellent.
They reply to me the next day and thoses tool arrived in NZ in few days.
Maybe I just expect too much from them.
Or maybe as you said their website is down again.

I shall wait for another few days..:(

Hi Gordon
Thanks.
I've been around this forum for a little while. I was quite happy just reading what's on this forum till now. I noticed that you've been very helpful to other memebers and appear on lots other threads. I am just starting to take intrest in repairing saxophone. I've just done my first overhaul on a tenor, I suck but it was a lot of fun. I did take your advices on other threads...buy the book, Ferree's catalog...etc. They are very useful and I thank you for that....:)
For sure I will keep having fun doing sax repairs and a lot more to learn about it. Of course I will be reading your posts and learn from it. Thanks again for your input.:)

Some people are not comfortable with calling to make orders, especially (though probably irelevant to those posted in this thread) when it is not in their first language.

I have both good, bad and even some weird experience with J.L. Smith. But anyway afaik you can't actually pay on their website so how did you order on their website?

Jaquire, If you are in Auckland with time to kill, give me a buzz and perhaps call in. I'm usually happy to chat while working, or just a chat & a cuppa. Just remind me about this invitation though... my memory for some things is pathetic. :)

I e-mailed an enquiry about an item in their catalogue last week and got a prompt reply...

...saying they no longer carried the item and had no plans to do so.

i have had experiences ordering from them where if something is back ordered, they just sort of drop it from the order. also it seems a lot of what is in their catalogue is not actually in stock or carried.
