Hey everyone! First off I just want to say thank you to everyone for all of the support on my YouTube channel this past year. 1.4 million views and 12,000 new subscribers all within 2019! The channel is growing everyday and I’m excited for the next 12 months.

So here’s what I’m asking: What videos do YOU want to see on my channel?

I already have a lot planned and I’m really excited about them, but this channel is made possible by the viewers so I want to hear what you have to say about it.

I’m looking forward to hearing your ideas, and here’s to a great 2020!

More collaboration with other saxophone related YouTube channels?
Like the one you and Jay Metcalf did at the beginning of this month, that was absolutely incredible (and the number of views in this example demonstrates that a demand for something similar exists).

More about music and less about gear and skank faces.

Fore example, maybe some episodes where you sit at the piano and go through a standard and discuss different ways of handling the changes and the way the harmony works.

I second that. No offense, but other channels do memes better whereas your strength is that you're a seriously great musician. I've most enjoyed your music videos including the collaborations. You also did a type of vlog of a gig that I liked. Adam Neely does this a lot.

I'm just one voice though ?

I agree and already have things in motion for that! But if we're looking at views, the one with Jay has about 8,000 while my 6 "Will it Play" videos total 780,000 ;)

I don't believe I've done many gear/stank face videos though, especially since I have 250+ videos on my channel. If it seems like I've done too much of that I apologize!

As far as going through a standard, I'm already in the process of writing those videos. It will be a series because I don't want to rush it. I see so many people try to cram it into a short video, but I know from teaching improvisation to people everyday that you need to reallllllly slow it down to actually do it right and not sound like you're guessing.

To be honest I don’t mind meme videos, and of course the YouTube audience loves them.
My personal opinion is that I like the way the channel is run at the moment, ie there is variety in what is uploaded: memes, tunes, playing with a guest, educational videos. My 2c: I would not put all my eggs in one single basket, the saxophone community is so niche already. Meme videos may not be attractive to the more mature audience, but I believe they are an effective “eye catcher” that grabs views and hopefully allows a greater viewership to know and appreciate the other more “serious” videos that Dave uploads!

I think you understand what I like doing with my channel :)

Also this is the Dave Pollack YouTube channel so I want to put out videos that represent me - joking around, playing serious music, teaching, trying new things, and praising our Lord and Savior Kenny G.

It should always be fun and I enjoy your personality in the videos. Would like to see some pedagogy shared as well. In addition to being a player, you're a teacher (right?) and I would like to see some of those skills in action on how you approach tunes and think of their (chordal) structure.

Great idea! I'm going to be doing a series on how I approach learning tunes for myself, as well as how I have students learn them. So many kids don't know how to do it efficiently!
