This ligature came in the case of my 1958 Mark VI alto and I've never seen anything like it before. Does anyone know what company made it? Just curious.
Looks like a Rigotti Flexitone lig

Never mind. Just looked closer and saw that there is a Selmer stamp on it. The Rigotti does look identical to it, though.
Just found something in an old thread, apparently they were Borgani Flexitone and also sold as Rigotti Flexitone.

Says they are based on these old Selmer ligatures from the 50s, probably what you have here. https://forum.saxontheweb.net/archive/index.php/t-161661.html

Its a Selmer Magnitone
Thanks! I think that's it.

Yes, that's an old Magnitone lig. I have the Borgani copy and it's a great ligature. Really easy to use and can be adjusted to fit a range of HR mouthpieces. There's also an Aizen version of this ligature that has one of those silly heavy screws you can screw into it.

What you have there is worth a lot of money!

Thanks for the info. I'll try it out tomorrow.

For a while those Magni-Tone ligs were going for a lot of money, for sure. But if the current reproductions are good, it wouldn't surprise me if the value of the originals has gone down.

Incidentally, my main alto mouthpiece at the moment is a Selmer Magni-Tone piece that a friend gave me years ago! I had Matt Marantz open it up to .085 and now it's by far my favorite alto piece. It feels and sounds somewhere between a Soloist and a Meyer. I love it!

I like this ligature so much, I just bought another one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Se...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2748.l2649

I also bid on the other Magnitone listed by the same seller but the other buyer I outbid on the one I linked to above outbid me on that other one:

The good thing is that they don't seem to cost that much money these days (I saw historical examples that sold for close to $200). Both examples cost less than the replicas.
