Live or Recording mic?

Sm57 works fine, and has a good price point.

I prefer a clip on for live playing. I hate to stand still.
Do you want a condenser or dynamic? SDSytems has a great dynamic mic - LDM94.

A highly recommended "live" mic on the market seems to be the AMT1 Roam Elite - Check it out.

Hope this helps.

57 is good, but in that price range I prefer the 58 it doesnt have the small Sweet spot. Again it works better for Me.
i second the roam 1. great system. great mike. great suspension system to quiet vibration from key closing.!
I have a Shure SM57, but most of a time a use an old Sennheiser MD 421 which makes the saxophone sound a bit more natural to my ears. I also use a K&K clip on microphone especially made for the sax which is a very good choice, too.
I used a SM 57 for awhile but got sick of being tied to the mic&stand,I found a good deal on the SD systems LDM 94 and i LOVE it..great sound and easy to switch B/T horns if your doubling.
I've used an SM58 in live situations, on a boom for both vocals and sax. Went wireless with an AT 1129 system, used the included lav mic with a homemade gooseneck clip, also used that system with a Sennheiser e604 clone with a Shure Keen Clamp. All with good results.

whatever works.
stand mics

I like the pickup pattern of the 57 Beta for sax (you don't have to glue yourself to it - but it's not prone to feedback either) - 58 Beta for flute & vocals (closer pickup pattern allows you to do dynamics and fades using distance from mic)
SM57, Audix I5, SM58, Sennhieser 865, K&K clip on, the roam elite is awesome but very pricey. In a mic stand I really like how the Audix sounds, for convenience I like the K&K. Nice thing, the SM57, SM58, Sennhieser and Audix can all be had for under a hundred bucks new - they're great sounding mics.
The main advantage I see in the AMT 1 roam elite is the elimination of that pesky beltpack.

Samson Airline 77is the first I've seen that is an alternative to the AMT 1 roam elite:

Anyone using or seen one of these or tried it out?
Hey hak, your link shows what looks like the Roam 1 to me. It looks just like my Roam 1 except a different color on the mic. portion. It's also about the same price. Those things work great and are very handy.
I believe Shure uses the Samson wireless system in their wireless instrument mic set-up. I'd say that's a pretty high endorsement when a quality mic producer like Shure uses your equipment with their products.

I think you're right.
Samson must be using the AMT mic for this. That's the price for whole the system? Around $500? I thought the AMT was more.
$$$$$$$

Yea, that's a good price for a Roam 1. It has the same stuff as what I have but it cost a little less. I don't remember what I paid but it was more than $500.
AMT-1 Roam Elite for wireless/clip

Stand
57/58 for price works fine.
421 is sweet and rich

And, in a pinch, you can pound nails with it. ;):D

...or was the the EV 666?
hak, I was wrong about the system you had shown in your post. It isn't the same as the one I have. I have the AMT Roam 1 Elite microphone. The balance of my system is the same as the one your were looking at. That system has the AMT Model One mic. They are different, hence the price difference....... $500 vs. $589. Sorry for the previous info. that I posted.
