I've never seen that happen to a synthetic. What you're seeing when it moves apart like that is internal stress. As others have said anything that plays easily and well for you with good tone works. However players can and do get used to different mouthpieces and reeds. It can take time as our embouchure and mouth wants to continually repeat what has worked. This is a major problem when using cane because it is inherently inconsistent. Try a good type of synthetic and see if you can get used to it. Those other problems just melt away and you can really develop your tone.
